Prep Cook Application
The White Oak Grill at Chippewa Retreat is looking for hard working, detail oriented prep cook responsible for preparing ingredients, cooking food to the chef’s specifications and setting up stations for menu items. The prep cooks plays a critical role in delivering high-quality dishes to guests in a timely manner, by ensuring all chefs have what they need in a timely, clean, and safe manner. They ensure the kitchen operates efficiently, maintains hygiene standards, and creates a safe and clean environment.
Reports to: Head Chef / Kitchen Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Food Preparation: Prepare ingredients for the shift; wash, chop, and measure ingredients. Cook menu items according to recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines. Plate dishes with attention to detail and according to specifications.
- Station Setup: Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies. Ensure all food items are stored and prepared safely and efficiently.
- Quality Control: Monitor food quality and presentation to ensure consistency. Follow health and sanitation procedures to maintain food safety standards.
- Efficiency and Speed: Work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Coordinate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation and delivery of meals.
- Maintenance and Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and organized work area. Clean and sanitize cooking surfaces and utensils regularly. Assist with kitchen cleanup and waste disposal at the end of the shift.
- Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and servers. Assist other cooks and kitchen staff as needed.
- Compliance: Adhere to all safety and sanitation regulations. Ensure compliance with all kitchen rules and policies.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a similar role preferred.
- Understanding of cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
- Good physical condition and stamina to stand for long periods.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively.
- Food handler certification preferred.
Working Conditions
- Fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Requires standing for long periods.
- Exposure to heat, sharp objects, and slippery floors.
- Shifts will include weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Position will function for both normal restaurant service and scheduled private events
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Manual dexterity to handle tools and kitchen equipment.
- Visual acuity to monitor food quality and safety.
